Political Action Course

Some 60 years ago, business leaders were concerned that voters were losing an understanding of the principles and purposes of the American political process. Facilitated by the Chamber of Commerce of the United States in 1959, a study guide was produced titled “The Action Course in Practical Politics” and group course study was started across the country. It was designed to help individuals who were interested in knowing more about politics, or might wish to personally become a candidate.

A newer “Political Action Course” began about 2010 by editing the old course content for the modern Political Action Course.  If you are interested in participating in the full course, let us know.

Conservative Party USA is actively advertsing for an educational format to present the Political Action Course nation-wide as was done those many years ago. There can be a business model attached to this goal. Each course participant has a cost attached to the course. This cost was covered by donors when the course was first presented.
If there is interest by anyone, please write us for more details. Almost all the course material is available in the old presentation and in an present day form..

The online course is available to full voting members at no cost.

The original course involved eight group meetings, called Workshops, usually in the evening, with about 12-15 participants and a Discussion Leader. The workshops were two hours in length although they usually went beyond that time frame as excitement was built from the discussions. The original course manual is long out of date, and in error in some areas relative to today’s political arena. It was the idea of Sam Gallo, a local Louisiana businessman, who once took the course and became a workshop leader to remove or revise out of date content and errors, but not destroy the “totally bipartisan” educational purpose of the course, and then present and conduct the revised political action workshops as a public service.

In many cases, courses were held in meeting rooms of a corporate sponsor. In other cases, restaurant meetings rooms, and Chamber of Commerce meeting rooms.

A corporate sponsor is any business where the owner(s) are mindful of the need to educate the public on the rights and duties of citizens, and the citizen’s ability to advance good government by having a knowledge of political action. The sponsor will pay for the modest cost of course materials, and permitting an employee to be a course moderator.

The first and important need in being a course moderator is having a solid understanding of our constitutional republic form of government. Beyond that, moderation of the Political Action Course would be much similar to conducting a church or school group of like size.
